Mazda and Saulnier Racing forms a new partnership for the Endurance season. The French team will expand its Endurance programm in 2009, following the good 2008 results (3rd at the Le Mans 24 Hours, 2nd at the Nurburgring 1000kms, 4th in LMP2 at the end of the Le Mans Series season).
Saulnier Racing, based in Nevers, will run two Pescarolo LMP2 prototypes powered by AER developed-Mazda MZR-R engines, the 4 cylinder 2.0 Turbo powerplant, which made its debut in the 2007 American Le Mans Series. Mazda Automobiles France partners with Saulnier Racing.
The Saulnier Racing/Mazda France team will run two LMP2 cars in the Le Mans Series in 2009.
- Olivier Quesnel appointed Peugeot Sport Manager
Olivier Quesnel will take up the position of Director of Peugeot Sport on January 1st, 2009.
He will be in charge of the Endurance project with a very clear objective to reach: "I will do everything in my power to enable Peugeot Sport to surpass the results it has already achieved. The potential is definitely there: the 908 HDi FAP is competitive and everyone in the team is extremely committed. I am counting on their continuing motivation and determination to help me rise to this exciting new challenge just as successfully as we have done at CitroГ«n Sport. "
Michel Barge, Peugeot Sport's current Director, has moved on to another position.
- Prototypes refuelling!
Despite a difiicult global context during this winter, it's raining a lot of good news on the Le Mans Series world!
For instance, a few days ago, Philippe Sinault announced that his team, Signature, will begin a new life in Endurance, in not less than the LMP1 category! The team will be the first customer of Courage-Oreca by buying a LC70E. This one will be powered by the V10 Judd engine used in 2008 by the Oreca-Matmut team. Regarding the drivers, nothing is decided at the moment, Franck Mailleux and Pierre Ragues took part to the testing session on the Paul Ricard racetrack... To be followed carefully!
On its side, the Speedy Racing team will officially announce in a few days...

- The Team Modena entered in LMGT2 in 2009
Team Modena takes up a new challenge for the coming season: having won three out of five LMS races in the GT1 category this season and being second in this category, the English team begins a new adventure in the LMGT2 category with...a Ferrari!
Indeed, the team announced today the first of their 2009 campaigns and its intention to enter a Ferrari F430 GT in LMGT2 for the whole Le Mans Series season.
- Endurance stars ensure the show!
The Endurance stars were reunited on Saturday at the Pavillon d'Armenonville to celebrate the 2008 Le Mans Series season, and take some news about the next one. Dr Ullrich, Michel Barge, Henri Pescarolo, Alexandre Premat, Allan McNish, but also Jos Verstappen or Olivier Panis...they were all here with us.
- Jos the Boss will defend his LMS title in 2009!
His season has been an example for each driver, he won the driver's title after his first season in Le Mans Series, he walked off with the pole positions, he was on each podium... Despite this splendid prize list, he already claimed it: Former Formula 1 driver Jos Verstappen, will be back in Le Mans Series in 2009 because he like the series!
Delighted with the last season, but also with the series and competitors level, Jos the Boss is determined to come back next year. Since team Van Merksteijn Motorsport's team manager decided to move direction and sell the Porsche RS Spyder, Jos won't be at the wheel of this car. But he is definitely thinking of a LMP1 for 2009.
There is a rumor that his "Formula 1 friends", Joan Villadelprat and Sergio Rinland, who now take over at the controls of the team Epsilon-Euskadi, will ask Jos to test their new car in December. But the Dutch champion will not to make his decision before the beginning of the year... Please, wait a little more...
- Racing Box: two cars or nothing!
It was expected, Racing Box officially announced it: the team purchased two Lolas B08/80.
One of them will be driven by three gentlemen drivers (Andrea Ceccato, Filippo Francioni and Ferdinando Geri); the other one by a professional line up which members have yet to be determined.
The engine and tyres specifications have not been defined niether, but in any case, this news is very auspicious for the 2009 season!
- Formula Le Mans: we write the future today!
The Endurance is looking at the future, and is preparing next generations! Thanks to Formula Le Mans, a new championship which will begin in 2009, we can be sure that new talents will be discovered.
The Le Mans Series' meetings will have a new support race, which will be present on each round of the season as well as on the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The Formula will offer a lot of bonuses and prize money, such as a LMP1 test for the winner, a test in LMP2 for the runner-up and a test in GT2 for the third!
- After the overalls...the dinner suit!
After a very lively season for the drivers, the teams managers, those behind the scenes ...and all those who make of the Le Mans Series races a wonderful show as well as a technical exploit and a know how demonstration, it is time to have fun now! And to swap the fireproof overalls with the dinner suits or the evening dresses!
That's why, every year, the Le Mans Series organisers bring together all the season winners, as well as all the endurance actors.
The appointment is made, on November 15th, in Paris for a big Automobile party, in the presence of Alexandre Premat, Nicolas Minassian, Jos Verstappen...and all the others!
- The 2009 calendar is ready!
You were waiting for it. The new Le Mans Series calendar is ready!
Five races, on circuits which are the “classicals” of the series: Barcelone, Spa-Francorchamps, le Nürburgring, Silverstone, but also a novelty this year with the 1000 Km of Algarve, in Portugal. This round will moreover be a night race!
