- Re: Anyone know what the "Charge Temperature Switch" does on an '87 3.9L Dak?
Tom, the EGR valve on this engine is controlled solely by vaccuum and is
located on driver's side of the intake manifold. The EGR vacuum is
supplied by a port on the carb and is routed through a "Coolant Vacuum
Switch Cold Closed" that is closed when cold and open when warm. Refer
to first answer on this thread for more info. - Re: Anyone know what the "Charge Temperature Switch" does on an '87 3.9L Dak?
The part that alters the spark advance is called the "Coolant
Temperature Sensor" and is located in the front left of the carb. It
measures the temp of the coolant.
The part I am inquiring about is referred to in the Ignition System
section of the shop manual as the "Charge Temperature Switch" and is - Re: Anyone know what the "Charge Temperature Switch" does on an '87 3.9L Dak?
From the 87 Dakota shop manual:
Charge Temperature Switch (CTS)
(Used only on 3.9L engine)
"The Charge Temperature Switch (CTS) is located on the intake manifold
to the right rear of the carburetor. This switch monitors the intake
charge (air fuel mixture) and feeds this information to the SCC (spark - Re: Anyone know what the "Charge Temperature Switch" does on an '87 3.9L Dak?
Jack,
The purpose of the switch is to alter the advance curve of the ignition, not
operate the egr valve. The advance curve is also influenced by the engine
coolant temperature as well. Some engines use detonation sensors in place of
a CTS for the same purpose.

I've thought that both dino and synthetic oil (I buy my preferred brands by
the case when I see sales) prices remained "fairly stable" while gasoline
and diesel fuel prices had gone through the roof. Yes, they increased some,
but nowhere near the raw crude oil price increases that were seen.
That said, I buy oil in the US quart containers, which is 943ml or 0.943 - Is motor oil getting more expensive ???
Is anyone else seeing motor oil getting more expensive - either on the
parts-store's shelves, or during an oil change at the dealership?
Is anyone else seeing oil being packaged in 900-odd ml containers,
instead of 1 liter?
In August I had an oil change at the dealer. They charged $2.75 /
unit, 5 units (I'm assuming that a unit is a liter). - Re: Mercedes and Chrysler was never a winning combination

I'm sure that's the case, a much cooler location for the battery,
particularly when one stops with a hot engine.
My wife's 2001 V6 Sebring battery is now 7.5 years old. Our weather can
be quite hot 30В°C in the summer, but for only several weeks. Winter can - Re: 300M automatic left outside mirror
Just a follow up to say I solved my left mirror dipping on backup and
also it's erratic action, by turning off that auto function.
My overhead console doesn't have the function to control several
functions, including the mirror, but the owners manual described a
procedure to turn off that function. - Re: RIP Chrysler!!!

I was happy with Chrysler vehicles; up to 2004. Certainly not after,
because of their abandoning good FWD cars. THX Daimler!
